Out of 1,000 people with atrial fibrillation who take blood thinners like Coumadin instead of aspirin, approximately 6, represented by the blackened seats, will prevent a disabling stroke in a year compared to 1,000 people with afib who take aspirin.
Out of 1,000 people with atrial fibrillation who take blood thinners like Coumadin instead of aspirin, approximately 12, represented by the blackened seats, will suffer a major bleed in a year, including 6 who bleed in their brain, compared to 1000 people with afib who take aspirin.
FOSAMAX FOR OSTEOPOROSIS
Out of 1,000 women with moderate risk for osteoperosis, approximately 5, represented by the blackened seats, will prevent a hip fracture if they take a drug like Fosamax for 3 or more years compared to 1,000 women who do not take Fosamax.
Out of 1,000 women who take drugs like Fosamax for over 5 years, approximately 20, represented by the blackened seats, will develop low impact leg fractures compared to 1,000 women who do not take Fosamax.
